Register Online

Registering to vote or changing your registration can be done through the GeauxVote Online Registration System.

For security reasons, this application will time out if you remain idle for more than five minutes and all data will be cleared for you to start over.

Once you have completed the application, you will be allowed to either print and mail your application, or if verified by the Office of Motor Vehicles, submit your application electronically.

If you plan to submit electronically, you must have your driver's license or Louisiana Special ID card in hand when you begin the process. There is an audit code on the card that you must enter. The audit code is a four digit number labeled AUDIT on the front of the license.

NOTE: A Louisiana mobility impaired card is not an acceptable form of identification because it does not contain a signature.

Printed applications must be postmarked or hand delivered 30 days prior to the first election in which you seek to vote.

Register In Person

  • Registrar of Voters Office
  • Louisiana Department of Motor Vehicle
  • Louisiana Department of Children and Family Services
  • WIC, Food Stamp, and Medicaid offices
  • Offices serving persons with disabilities, such as the Deaf Action Centers and Independent Living offices

If registering in person at a parish Registrar of Voters office, you are required to prove age, residency and identity. If you have no driver's license, special Louisiana ID or social security number, you may provide a picture ID, utility bill, payroll check or government document that includes your name and address.

You must register to vote using your homestead exemption address. However, if you do not claim homestead exemption and reside at more than one place in the state with an intention to reside there indefinitely, you may register at only one of the places at which you reside. Applications must be postmarked or hand delivered 30 days prior to the first election in which you seek to vote.

Register by Mail

Apply by mail by downloading the Louisiana Voter Registration Application, completing it and mailing it to the Registrar of Voters Office.

Faxed voter registration forms are not accepted. The voter registration form should be addressed and mailed or hand-delivered to the appropriate registrar of voters in the parish in which you are registering.

Changing Registration Information

  • Within the Parish: Maintaining your correct and current address within your parish is your responsibility. You must contact us separately from the post office when you change your address or name. While this cannot be done over the phone, you can call the office for information and forms to be mailed to you or use GeauxVote.com to make changes.

  • Outside the Parish: You must notify the Registrar of Voters office in your parish of any changes to your registration. If you have moved outside your parish to reside in another parish or state, you are no longer eligible to remain registered in that parish. If you are displaced due to a hurricane or any disaster, you may remain registered to vote as long as you do NOT register in another state. You should provide the Registrar of Voters office as soon as possible with your new mailing address in order to remain an active voter.

  • Address changes can also be made during the annual canvass season, early voting and election day when it is required by the office for an Address Confirmation Cards. These forms will make in parish address changes for those still residing in the parish. Forms that state out of parish addresses but are still residing in Louisiana will be used to transfer voter registration over to the new parish. Forms that state voters residing out of state will be used to cancel the Louisiana voter registration. Changes will be made after the election.
  • If no Address Confirmation Card is required voters may change addresses during Early Voting and Election Day using the Louisiana Voter Registration form. Please note that applications will be held by the Registrar of Voters office and changes will be made after the election.
