About

St. Charles Parish Animal Control wants to make sure you and your pets are prepared for hurricane season. The most important thing to remember is you and your pet’s safety.

1) Make sure each animal has:
  • Current rabies vaccination and certificate
  • Tags
  • Collar
  • Leash
  • Carrier
  • Current vet records

2) Advice:
  • Search out animal-friendly hotels to stay in. You can try Bring Fido.
  • Get a copy of your animals’ current vet records in case of an emergency.
  • If your animal does not travel well, check with your veterinarian about medicines to ease your pet’s anxiety.

3) Food, Water and Medications:

Have food and water for your animals for at least seven days and enough medication for two weeks.

4) Microchip:

Animal Control recommends you microchip your animal in case you and your pet are disconnected.

5) Please do not leave your animals behind!

While most evacuations last only a few days, there are times that you may not be able to return quickly. The safest place for your pet is with you.
