St. Charles Parish President V.J. St. Pierre read this proclamation during the council meeting on Feb. 8 and will present it to the Saints players and coaches during the Saints parade in New Orleans on Feb. 9, 2010.
WHEREAS, the long-suffering Who Dat Nation never gave up hope of one day reaching the promised land that is the Superbowl; and,
WHEREAS Saints fans everywhere continued to support the team, even through the oxygen-depleted days under paper bags; and,
WHEREAS under the leadership of Saint Breesus and Sean “The Mastermind” Payton, this once-downtrodden team has risen to the occasion in 2009 and 2010, and;
WHEREAS the players have ‘Shock’ed their opponents with awesome skill in the game of football, am’Bush’ing their quarterbacks and trans’Port’ing us to 16 victories; and,
WHEREAS, the team understands the ‘Hart’ and soul of the Gulf Coast, so devastated by recent storms; and,
WHEREAS the Saints have brought together people from all walks of life to celebrate not only a win, but the rebirth of a region; and,
Whereas Saints fans everywhere should not only celebrate Mardi Gras, but also LOMBARDI GRAS, this spring.
Therefore, we, the members of the St. Charles Parish Council, and the Parish President, do hereby proclaim
Tuesday, February 9, 2010 as “WHO DAT DAY IN ST. CHARLES PARISH” to honor the Saints’ first-ever Superbowl win and their status as football’s WORLD CHAMPIONS.
