PARISH COUNCIL MEETING PREVIEW FOR JULY 7, 2014

The St. Charles Parish Council will hold a regular meeting beginning at 6 p.m. July 7 in the Council Chambers, located on the second floor of the courthouse, 15045 River Road in Hahnville. The meeting may also be viewed live on SCP-TV. The entire agenda may be viewed here.

Items on the agenda for public hearing include but are not limited to:

  • An ordinance to amend the Zoning Ordinance of 1981, to change the land use zoning classification from R-1AM to C-2 for portion of Lot C, St. Rose S39,T-13-S, R9E (5,700 SF approx.), at 118 St. Rose Ave, St. Rose, as requested by Mahesh Konevu. (Sponsored by President St. Pierre and the Department of Planning and Zoning)

  • An ordinance of the Parish of St. Charles providing that the Code of Ordinances, Parish of St. Charles, be amended by revising Section 15-5, Motor Vehicles and Traffic, of said Code, to provide for the installation of “NO PARKING” signs on both sides of Kliner Road from its intersection with Highway 90 along the entire length of the street in Des Allemands. (Sponsored by Councilman Hogan)

  • An ordinance to name an unnamed private shell road located at the end of Magnolia Ridge Road in Boutte as Fahrig Lane. (Sponsored by Councilman Hogan)

  • An ordinance to amend the Code of Ordinances Appendix A, St. Charles Parish Zoning Ordinance of 1981, Section VI. Zoning district criteria and regulations., B. Residential districts, [II.] R-1A(M). Single Family Residential Detached Conventional Homes, Manufactured Homes, and Mobile Homes-Medium density., 3. Special Provisions, by amending c. and adding e. and f. (Sponsored by Councilman Hogan)

  • An ordinance to provide for the amendment of the St. Charles Parish Home Rule Charter Section B.2. of Article III to increase the annual base compensation of the Parish President to be effective for the 2016 term. (Sponsored by Councilman Hogan)

  • An ordinance to provide for the amendment of the St. Charles Parish Home Rule Charter Section A.2. of Article III to increase the annual base compensation of the Parish Council to $18,500 for each Councilman At Large and $15,000 for each District Councilman and to increase it no more than three and seventy-five hundredths (3.75 percent) percent in any one year and not to exceed more than fifteen (15 percent) percent over any four year period to be effective for the 2016 term.   • An ordinance to provide for the amendment of the St. Charles Parish Home Rule Charter Section A.6.c. of Article III to add subsection v. to state that any person appointed by the Parish Council to fill a vacant council seat until such time that a special election is held shall be prohibited from seeking election to the same office whether or not they serve for the duration of the appointment. Any person appointed by the council to fill a vacant council seat where the vacancy is one year or less, the appointee is also prohibited from seeking election to the same office for the subsequent term whether or not they serve for the duration of the appointment.   • An ordinance to provide for the amendment of the St. Charles Parish Home Rule Charter Section F.4. of Article V to allow the Parish Council to pass ordinances as it sees fit to transfer part or all of any unencumbered appropriation balance among programs within a department or office of the Parish Council, and/or to transfer part or all of any unencumbered appropriation balance from one department or office to another, and/or to transfer funds from the General Fund to a department or fund within a department provided the ordinances pass with the unanimous approval by all Parish Council members.   • A resolution to appoint a member to the Library Service District Board of Control. (Sponsored by Councilwoman Benedetto)

  • A resolution requesting that the Coastal Protection and Restoration Authority (CPRA) develop a project to stabilize the north shoreline of Lake Salvador from the existing shoreline protection west of Bayou Couba up to Bayou Couba. (Sponsored by Councilman Hogan)

  • In addition, the parish council will also hear reports on the Sunset Drainage District, Department of Planning and Zoning / Coastal Zone Management and the Department of Emergency Preparedness.
