CONTRACTOR OFFERS PROJECT UPDATE ON DMV, RECORDS STORAGE BUILDING

The new Department of Motor Vehicles building is just weeks away from reaching substantial completion.

The exterior is nearly complete, and the interior finishes (walls, ceilings and floors) are complete. All toilet fixtures are installed. Light fixtures are being hung and trim work is nearing completion. Cabinets and countertops are expected on site this week, and finishes such as blinds and signage will be installed shortly after.

The project is 16 percent ahead of schedule.

Brickwork is more than 80 percent finished, with completion scheduled this week. Weather has really held up this work this past couple of weeks. Light fixtures are being installed, and permanent power is expected into the building this week. The overhead door is scheduled for installation this week. All hollow metal exit doors are installed. When completed, the building will be secured. Just the toilet room and some minor finishes remain. The project is 15 percent ahead of schedule.

The contractor on the projects is F.J. Arcement Construction Inc. The cost of the new DMV building is $321,000, and the cost of the records storage building cost is $417,000.
