On Monday, June 10, 2024, The Department of Public Works will begin improvements to subsurface drainage on Ormond Boulevard between Hermitage Drive and Elmwood Drive in Destrehan. Public Works will be removing the old 36-inch culvert and replacing it with three 24-inch culverts, upgrading drainage capacity in the area. 

A temporary lane shift will be implemented, and flagging crews will be onsite during the closure. The lane closures are expected to last through Friday, June 14, 2024.  

Northbound drivers will be directed to cross over the median to the southbound lane, then back into the northbound lane once past the work site. Once the work in the northbound lane is complete, southbound drivers will be directed to cross into the northbound lane and then back into the southbound lane. Residents are urged to exercise caution while traveling in the area.   

 UPDATE 6/10/24: Public Works will implement a detour down Elmwood Dr. instead of a lane shift while the drainage improvement is underway.
