Parish President Matthew Jewell appointed to CPRA Board

Post Date:April 16, 2024 2:00 PM

St. Charles Parish President Matthew Jewell has been appointed by Governor Jeff Landry to serve as the Barataria Basin representative on the Louisiana Coastal Protection and Restoration Authority Board. President Jewell is one of eight board members appointed by the governor to represent the various basins throughout the 20 coastal parishes in Louisiana.

"I am honored to join the CPRA Board and contribute to the important work of preserving our state's coastal ecosystems," Jewell said. "Louisiana's coast faces exceptional challenges, and I am eager to work with all stakeholders from around the state to implement solutions that ensure our coastline is better protected for generations to come. I want to thank Governor Jeff Landry and Senator Greg Miller for their confidence in me to represent the Barataria Basin on the Board.โ€

Now in his second term as Parish President, Jewell has completed several significant flood protection projects that better protect residents in low-lying areas, with more improvements to come. His experience in working with local, state and federal agencies to achieve comprehensive flood protection in St. Charles Parish demonstrates his dedication to the residents of coastal areas of Louisiana who battle the impacts of coastal erosion and severe weather events, as well as the effects those destructive factors have on their lives and property.
