Below is a list of upcoming events in SCP. 


1811 Slave Revolt Commemorative Activities

A special mass as part of the year-long Bicentennial Commemoration of the 1811 River Road Slave Revolt.

The mass will be celebrated by Father Harry Bugler. Father Mark Raphael, a historian from the Archdiocese of New Orleans, will give the homily. Jonn Hankins, Director of the New Orleans African-American Museum, will provide remarks about the context of the revolt and the implications of expanding the recognition of this historic event. Also speaking will be Rev. Kendall Pierre, Pastor, Mt. Zion Baptist Church of Ama.

This event is hosted by St. Charles Borromeo Church in cooperation with Destrehan Plantation, the New Orleans African-American Museum and the Center for Public Service, Tulane University and sponsored by St. Charles Parish Economic Development Department and Shell Chemicalsl/Motiva.
