Youth Wetlands Week Event: Party for the Planet

You are invited to the Youth Wetlands Week event:
Party for the Planet!

What: A wetland restoration event and festival for students sponsored by the Youth Wetlands Education and Outreach Program to celebrate Earth Day.

The America’s WETLAND Conservation Corps has partnered with YWW to put on a bald cypress tree planting and a trash bash to help restore and the beautify wetlands around Fort Pike. Students and volunteers will help plant hundreds of bald cypress trees to replace ones that were destroyed during hurricanes that have struck New Orleans over the last few years.

Students will also have the opportunity to participate in a variety of hands-on wetland themed activity booths (see agenda below).

Time: 9 a.m. – 2 p.m.


What to Bring: Students will be responsible for their own lunches. Please wear clothes that can get dirty and close-toes shoes. Transportation to and from the event is the responsibility of oneself. Everything else needed for the event will be provided.

The Youth Wetlands Education and Outreach Program is a wetland outreach program sponsored by the Office of Coastal Protection and Restoration and implemented through the LSU AgCenter’s 4-H Youth Development Program. The America’s WETLAND Conservation Corps is an AmeriCorps program that promotes wetland restoration through a partnership between the America’s WETLAND Foundation, the Lt.
