Randy was born on May 14, 2009, and was diagnosed at birth with Epidermilysis Bullosa, a very rare form of skin disease. His disease is further sub-typed Junctional EB, a more serious form, which involves both the upper and lower layers of his skin. This very painful condition is completely disabling and in many cases, fatal.

Currently, there is no cure for Epidermilysis Bullosa. Care for this disease is the same care provided for severe burn patients. Blisters must be lanced, drained and dressed daily with specialized ointments; wound care is a continual, tedious and very expensive process.

Randy's father, Randy Roth II, works for St. Charles Parish as an Assistant Director in the Recreation Department. His mother Courtney is a nurse but is unable to return to work due to the continuous care required for the proper management of Tripp's condition.

They have been informed by his specialists that caretaking costs will surely exceed $3,000 per month, even with good insurance.
